Kirby is among the most iconic videogame characters. Known for his colorful friendly aesthetic, the world of Kirby feels like a perfect fit for a friendly game of bowling.

Kirby's Superstar Lanes will transform an ordinary bowling alley into a themed experience set in the world of Kirby. Explore the magnificent King Dedede's Castle, the rolling hills of the Green Greens, and travel aboard the mighty Battleship Halberd in this once in a lifetime bowling parlor!

Kirby has a ton of memorable experiences and locations that would make a stunning exterior! But none come close to King Dedede's Castle!

EXTERIOR

1.png

Castle Dedede has been featured in a ton of Kirby games and is iconic in its own right because of it. Through the use of forced perspective, the castle seems to be much bigger than it actually is.

The cannons around the exterior can be seen smoking as if they had just been used to keep someone away (walking up to the castle, guests can see cannonballs impaled into the ground and light poles around.

At night, the building really comes alive! Suddenly, all the lights from the castle come on. In the windows, guests can see silhouettes of King Dedede and Kirby preparing to fight. Guests can also see how those cannonballs got everywhere as when night falls the cannons simulate firing off (red lights, smoke, and sound just like the Pirates of the Caribbean ride).

With an exterior like this, the guests have fun before they even step a foot through the door!

BOWLING

Entering in through the doors of Castle Dedede, guests find themselves amid the gentle scenery of an iconic level from the Kirby franchise: Green Greens. The walls are painted with images of a large rivers and a variety of hills dotting a far-off landscape, as dot-shaped clouds populate the clear blue sky. The main floor of the bowling alley is green, with a light tan pathway through main walking areas to guide guests toward the different areas around the bowling alley.

Checking in at the front desk (which is designed to resemble the hill platforms from the Green Greens stage), guests will receive their bowling shoes. The bowling shoes come in a variety of 8 different colors, based upon the palette choices for Kirby from Super Smash Bros. Ultimate: Pink, yellow, blue, red, green, orange, purple, and black and white. With their shoes acquired, guests will head down that tan path towards the lane that they have been assigned.

Each lane has a variety of chairs for guests to sit on when not rolling, designed with a white color and plush seating to resemble gentle clouds. Right by these chairs are tables whose tops resemble the front of the Star Block so often seen in the Kirby games, so guests can have a spot close by to have their snacks. There are also touchpad monitors (built into set-ups designed to resemble those hill platforms) so players can enter their names and any team information.

The lanes themselves have a checkered tile design, reminiscent of the flooring from Kirby’s Dream Course, with the lane dividers looking like the green barriers from that game (though adorned with tiny stars). At the other end of the lane, guests are treated to a back wall that is painted to resemble treetops holding apples (along with the occasional Gordo) and a tree design separating each lane. The pins themselves possess the shocked expression of that signature boss from the Kirby games, Whispy Woods.

The bowling balls rest in a rack connected to the ball return, with resembles a small hill topped with a warp star. The bowling balls come in a variety of designs, based around characters from the games. Of course, plenty of them are modeled around Kirby. They feature that friendly face and come in a variety of colors he has sported in his games, like pink, yellow, red, blue, green, and black and white (like his debut in Kirby’s Dream Land). There are also balls modeled after other characters from the games, like Meta Knight, Waddle Dee, Rick, Kine, Coo, and even King Dedede.

Of course, there are other touches to catch the eyes of guests. For instance, monitors over each lane that display the score also feature delightful animations for moments like strikes, spares, and even the dreaded gutterball. Also, when the ball is returning to the player after they’ve rolled, they will see those stars on the line divider light up as the ball makes its way to the Warp Star, emerging into the ball return. It is a small touch, but one designed to remind players of the Warp Star from the Kirby games.

ANIMATIONS

Depending on your score, a special animation will play at the end screen of the alley. They are as follows:

Strike

Spare

Split

Gutterball

Furthermore, here is a video representing what one's time bowling at Kirby's Superstar Lanes would look like:

ARCADE

The bowling alley’s arcade is themed to the Halberd, Meta-Knight’s airship.

The arcade is located above ground and guests travel upward via staircase or wheelchair accessible ramp. The floors are wood and there are railings along the side of the platform. The Halberd itself overlooks the entire bowling alley and occasionally the ship’s canons will go off releasing a cloud of smoke. The Halberd features a large collection of fan-favorite games among its deck. The games inside the arcade include:

•Pinball
•Dance Dance Revolution
•Ski Ball
•Whack-A-Mole
•Air Hockey
•Basketball
•Racing
•Guitar Hero
•Connect Four
•Claw Machine

The main attraction is an immersive VR Experience where guests, for an additional charge, can put on a VR headset and hold VR controllers and roam around Kirby’s Dreamland. In reality, guests are just walking around a small area but in the game, they can interact with Kirby and the world around them. In order to play the games, guests must purchase a card with the desired amount of cash on it and they’re able to swipe any game to play.

CHEF  KAWASAKI’S  HOT  POT

15.png

Between the bowling alley and the arcade is Kawasaki’s Hot Pot, the complex’s diner. Kawasaki’s takes up a circular footprint with an open layout. The diner is themed to an open field in Green Greens, surrounded partially by a wooden fence and a few small (faceless) apple trees. A few small wooden kiosks break the fence and hills, each featuring a different colored tarp with pictures of various foods. Lololo and Lalala can be seen sitting in one of the trees, looking down on diners. On the back wall, a star door leads into the kitchen.

In the center of the restaurant stands a large statue of Chef Kawasaki who is excitedly standing behind a large pot over an open fire, a bottle of spices in one hand, and a bunch of radishes in the other. A trio of Waddle-dees hang from the side of the pot, looking in on what Kawasaki is cooking. Surrounding Kawasaki are a number of picnic tables, each with checkered picnic tablecloths in red, blue, or green. Kawasaki’s serves bowling alley classics as well as a few more unique offerings to fit more within the Kirby universe and set itself above normal bowling alley fare.
